'The following of Lady Oriente included every animal except the donkey and the fox. It feasted off beasts that were then restored to life, and visited neatly kept homes to bless them, and Oriente instructed her human followers in the arts of lore and human divination. These they put to the usual ends of benevolent magic, to heal, break bewitchment and find stolen goods. One of them said that Oriente ruled her own followers as Christ did the world.'
